Vet Price Comparison operates an independent UK veterinary price comparison website. We help pet owners compare published and moderated price signals by location. We are not a veterinary practice and do not provide clinical advice.

This policy applies to personal data we process when you browse the site, run a comparison search, submit a price, contact us, or manage cookie preferences. It does not cover third-party websites we link to (such as veterinary practice sites or official GOV.UK pages).

Browsing and comparison. You can compare prices without creating an account. When you search by postcode or town, we process the location you enter to return comparison results. We also process technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and server logs for security, abuse prevention, and service operation.

Price submissions. If you submit a price, we collect the information you provide about the clinic, treatment, amount, and optional notes. Optional contact details (such as email) may be collected for moderation follow-up only. Submitter identity is not shown on public comparison pages.

Practice directory information. We display factual business contact details for veterinary practices (for example name, address, and business phone or website) to support comparison. This is generally business contact data rather than personal data about individuals.

Communications. If you email us, we keep the content and contact details needed to respond, including correction or opt-out requests from practices.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use necessary cookies and, with your consent where required, optional analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.

• Review, moderate, and publish user-submitted prices where appropriate.
• Maintain directory listings and respond to correction or removal requests.
• Protect the service against abuse, spam, and security incidents.
• Understand aggregate site usage when analytics cookies are accepted.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use comparison search history for targeted advertising.

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases, depending on the activity:

• Legitimate interests — to operate a price comparison service, maintain a practice directory, prevent abuse, and improve the site, balanced against your rights.
• Consent — for non-essential cookies where consent is required, and for optional contact details on submissions where you choose to provide them.
• Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

We use service providers that process data on our behalf to host and run the website, store submissions, and deliver analytics. These may include hosting and infrastructure providers (for example Vercel and Supabase) and, when enabled, cookie-consent tooling (Civic Computing Cookie Control).

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or regulatory request, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the service.

Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where this happens, we take steps intended to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses, in line with UK GDPR requirements.

• Raw price submissions and moderation records are kept for as long as needed for data quality, audit, and dispute handling, then deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
• Optional submitter contact details are not published and are retained only for moderation purposes.
• Server and security logs are kept for a limited period appropriate to security and troubleshooting.
• Practice directory data is retained while listings remain relevant and may be updated or removed on request.

We apply technical and organisational measures appropriate to the nature of the data we hold, including access controls, validation on submissions, and backend-first handling of sensitive operations. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Subject to UK GDPR, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to data portability where applicable. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent (for example optional cookies or optional contact fields).

The service is intended for general audiences including pet owners. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes may also be highlighted on the site where appropriate.
