Data policy & price methodology

We never present estimated data as exact. Every comparison result carries a confidence label, and sparse areas show honest fallback messaging instead of empty tables.

Confidence labels

Estimated

Derived from national or regional guide ranges when clinic-level data is limited. Useful for planning, not an exact quote.

Verified

Taken from a practice's own published price list or another trusted source we can trace.

User submitted

Shared anonymously by pet owners, stored as raw records, and reviewed before anything is published.

Limited local data

Shown when nearby clinic coverage is thin. We label the fallback clearly rather than implying full local coverage.

How we calculate and publish prices

  • We prefer ranges over single figures when exactness is not justified.
  • We state whether a figure is local, regional, or a national guide fallback.
  • We show last-updated signals where data is displayed on comparison surfaces.
  • Guide pages use clearly labelled estimated national or city ranges — not clinic quotes.
  • Comparison uses the best available clinic-level signals from verified lists, ingest, and moderated submissions.

Sparse local data

When local coverage is limited, we still show the best available context with labels such as Limited local data or Estimated national range. National or regional fallbacks are never presented as neighbourhood-level certainty.

Submissions & moderation

  • All user submissions are stored as raw records separately from published comparison data.
  • Moderation is required before a submission appears publicly.
  • Published records show clinic, treatment type, amount, and label — not submitter identity.
  • Practices can request corrections backed by a published price list or official source.
